The Place

The name of this one is no exaggeration. This sprawling community marketplace really is the place to shop in Indio. The 15,000-square-foot market brings together nearly 100 merchants and artisans, many of them local, each with their own individually styled vendor space. Candles, flowers, jewelry, stationery, baked goods, bath, body and home goods—you’ll find a little bit of everything here. I love grabbing a latte at Saguaro Coffee next door and then wandering through the market to see what treasures catch my eye. It’s the kind of spot where you head in for a new set of pens and somehow walk out with a handmade necklace, a secondhand book, and a handful of other unexpected finds. In other words, it’s a huge place to shop small.
